The Frozen Meat Trade tion's Smithfield Market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not fewer than 100 carcases of mutton, or lamb, or 2o carcases of beef, of fair average qualify. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is estimated at 2,290,000 quarters, and 'for the Continent 2,100,000. Atlantic shipments total 685,000, and Pacific 50,000. The total to Europe for the week was 1,165,000, for India 12,000. MISCELLANEOUS. Galvanised iron, £l6 10/-. Jute: December and January shipment £l6 10/-. Hemp: Quiet. February-April shipment, £24 10/-; Rubber: Para 2/10 ]; plantation 1/11$; smoked 2/3. Cotton: May-June shipment 4.20-Jd. RANGIORA SALE. Pigs (entry of 60): Baconers 50/- to 60/-, smalls 5/- to 12/-, stores 15/- to 25/-. Sheep (entry of 560, 200 in fat pens): The market was very dull, and only 50 were sold. Pat lambs 16 at 19/-; fat ewes, 7 at 20/-, 3 17/3, 3 18/6, 13 18/9, 32 18/6, 4 15/9, 17 17/9, 6 18/3, 13 20/-, 13 18/8; 8 wethers 19/11; stores, 50 wethers 13/7. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The High Commissioner's market report was as follows: —London 19 (Note: Quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot). Mutton —There is more demand owing to a short supply of Dutch, but the market is declining on accouut of frozen supplies increasing. Canterbury mutton sid, North Island 5-M. Lamb —The market is quiet. Canterbury up to forty-two's, 6 9-16 d, other than Canterbury 6j}-d. Beef —There is a better demand for beef owing to short supply. Irish and chilled New Zealand brands, hinds 6gd fores- s|d, chilled hinds 7§d, fores s|d. Butter —The market is firm. Danish is very slow, and supplies are decreasing. Quotations are 150/- to 154/- per cwt; New Zealand butter is firm with a good demand at 136/- to 138/- per cwt. Aus- < tralian is firm Tvdth moderate supplies coming forward, and prices are from 134/- to 136/-; Argentine is firm at 132/to 136/-. Cheese—The market is not quite so firm. Canadian is firm, but the demand is only moderate. White and coloured, per cwt, is 78/- to 70/-; o:r"~:.<-:o:;::!: -

good, 80/-. The New Zealand market has declined further. White and coloured is now 76/- to 77/-. The Buahine, Tainui, and Pakeha are in dock, and the Buahine and Tainui are discharging butter and cheese now, but the Pakeha cannot discharge for three days. The dairy produce /market is rather unsettled, owing to the delay in delivery from the docks. Hemp—The market is somewhat steadier, and there is very little New Zealand on hand. New Zealand good fair grade" is quoted at £26 per ton; fair, £24; these prices are nominal. ■; January to March New Zealand, good fair grade, £24 10/per ton; fair, £22 10/-. The output from.
