SWIMMING.
WHARENUI CLUB. A meeting was held ill the Wharenui school last evening for the purpose of promoting interest 'in the Whai'enui Amateur Swimming Club. Mr F. Coombs presided over a large attendance. The balance-sheet showed the club to be on a good financial basis. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Sir George Clifford; president, Mr Geo. Witty; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Rankin, j. Hanna, J. C. Graham, G. Helliwell, J. Killielc, J. A. Lummis, J. T. Brown, W. G. Jamieson, G. Harris, J. Reynolds, and A. Boyle; club captain, Mr F. Ashworth; deputy-captain, Mr B, Stark; secretary, Mr E. Prebble; treasurer, Mr R. Batten; .committee, Messrs F. Ashworth, T. Stokes, J. A. Cross, J. Soutei-j J. F. D. White, P. Evans, P. Miller,/ E. Cross, and E. Prebble; bath committee representative, Mr F. G. Coombs.
