Mr Cann has dec-lined to take an> , steps in regard to the totalisator till Mr Holman has returned -from Melbourne au'd Cabinet has considered the matter. He has made it clear, however, that the majority of ministers opposed its introduction, either as a State enterprise or as a legalised method of gambling, and that, the Government was rtot prepared .to father the Bill. A majority of the caucus favoured the! measure, and : i.t was consequently announced that one of the ministers would stand sponsor for the Bill. . It is not expected that: the measure will be introduced this session.
