Mr A. L. Haslam, of Dunedin, is a guest at the United Service Hotel. The Hon. James Allen is expected to return from the south by the second express to-day.

Messrs C. M. Smith and M. G. McInnes have been appointed junior assistant masters at the Otago Boy's High School. Messrs D. 6. Wright (Windermere), P. Wingfieid (Auckland), and H. J. Wynne (Wellington) are staying at Coker 's. Hotel.

Included among those staying at Warner's Hotel are Messrs C. 11. Johnston, of Glenmark, and E. Boocock, of Wellington. The Rev. J. L. Robinson, assistant minister at First Church, Dunedin, has received a call to the Columba Presbyterian Church, Oantaru. Mr W. A. Low, the advance representative . for Messrs Stephenson and Linley 's '.'*.' Hu'mpty' Dumpty'' Pantomime Company, arrived in town yesterday to make arrangements for the coming season, which opens at the Theatre Royal on Saturday next. Mr Charles Zachariah, who has been connected with the Public Trust Office for many years, and who is at present Wellington .. district manager ; and Aeting-Official Assignee, has been appointed Deputy Public Trustee and Official Assignee for Otago, in succession to Mr Kendall, who is being transferred to the Public Trust Office in Christchurch. Mr Zachariah will leave for Dunedin next week.

In 1865 he removed his home to Wellingr ton, where he--has resided ever since, being engaged _in the building trade until about fifteen years' ago, when he retired froni active work. The late MiMorrison was oive of the founders and a prominent member of the Loyal Britannia Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., and was a. member of Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church from its establishment, and prior to that was connected with St. John's Church. The deceased is survived by one son (Mr H. A. Morrison), formerly manager in Wellington and Hawke's Bay for Hallenstein Bros., and now a member of the firm of Arm-, strong and Morrison, o£ Dannevirke, and a daughter (Mrs S. P«rrin, of Auckland).
