FEDERATION AIDS A STRIKE. .«.;. HEAVY EINES IMPOSED. .-TV- V By Cajiie. — Press Association.—Copyright. .-;. SYDNEY,. November 12. Juttge Heydon imposed fines amounting to £2500 upon the Colliery Employees' Federation and officials, jarising out of the afternoon shift strike.
Eeferring to previous injunctions forbidding officials to aid a strike, Judge Heydon said that it was impossible to conceive a more formal, explicit, deliberate and continuous defiance of the law. The Federation, its members, and officials, had shown a complete and absolute contempt" of the provisions of the Act. If this was not a case for the maximum penalty, there never would be a case for the maximum.
