Replying to the Colliery Employers' Federation complaint against the nonenforcement of fines upon 517 of the afternoon shift strikers at Maitlarid, the Hon. J. Estell defended the action, stating that it was not desirable to keep the colliery district in" a ferment by the continuance of the prosecution.
