RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION.
BECKENHAM AND FISHERTON. Mr W. Large presided over the last meeting of the Beckenham and Fisherton Residents' Association at Mr Peek's Hall, Colombo Street. In reply to a letter from the Association the Drainage Board wrote stating that it had no jurisdiction over the draining of septic tanks into the river at Malcolm Avenue Bridge. The Spreydon Borough Council wrote regarding a nuisance existing at the Tennvson Street drain. It was decided that the Health Officer and the Drainage Board should be written to complaining of the bad state of the Tennyson Street drain and the smell arising from it. It was decided:—"That on account of the inability of the Drainage Board and the City Council to prevent the surrounding districts from draining into the river, the Drainage Board be asked to give an estimate for a septic tank sewage scheme draining into the same river." A motion of appreciation of the action of the residents of the district who have volunteered for service with the Expeditionary Force was recorded on the minutes.
