CITY WATER SUPPLY.
NEW WELLS SUNK. EXTRA 500,000 GALLONS PER DAY. The Mayor made a very gratifying report to the City Council last evening in regard to the success of the new wells which have been.sunk near the pumping station. "One of the wells was uncovered in my presence," said the Mayor, "and it gave a magnificent flow. The water rises sufficiently high to flow into the pumping reservoir—it is delivered 2 feet above that reservoir. Three wells have been sunk, and they will give us 500,000 gallons per day extra, unless something unforeseen happens. It is very satisfactory to know that we have found such an abundant supply." Cr Loasby: Do the new wells affect the other wells? Cr Cooper (chairman of the Water Committee) said that they were not near the other wells, and he did not think that they would affect the present supply.
