The appointment of another pilot for the. Wellington Harbour Board is to be made at tat meeting, of the board on Wednesday next. .The vacancy has been caused by the coming retirement of Captain Shilling. The Commonwealth and Dominion liner Star; of Australia is expected back at Lyttel ton from the south early next week for Homeward loading. An expected arrival at Auckland on Sunday or--Monday, is the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's Pakeha, from London. The vessel, which did not make a call at Hobart this trip, has a particularly-large cargo for Auckland. Discharge of this will occupy about ten . days, and the Pakeha will then come south to. complete discharge. ■ The Steamer Arrino, which arrived at Bluff on Tuesday, brought a full cargo of hardwood from Bunbury for New Zealand. From •Bluff the vessel will go to Dunedin to land a .part.,cargo, after which she comes ,pn to Wellington to complete discharge. The sailings of the Island steamers Tofua and Atua from Sydney have been postponed. _ No fewer than four Norwegian sailing vessels are listed to arrive at Bluff shortly with guano. They include the barque Cairnsmore, B*6 tons, Captain Zackariasen, from Surprise Island; the barque Irene, 1010 tons, Captain liarsen, and the Oberon, 1045 tons, Captain Koding, from Maiden Island. The fourmasted barquentine Riuiac, 885 tons, Captain Thomasseu, is also bringing a cargo of guano from Pabre Island for Bluff. Advice has been received by the National Mortgage «.nd Agency Company that' the Waitemata will leave Sydney for New Zealand with-transhipments ex the Ilangatira to-mor-row. She is due at Auckland on September 2-5, thence coming on to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Her arrival at this port is set down for October 7. The Wakatu is expected to arrive from Kaikoura to-night, and will sail on her return trip on Sunday evening. They include the 'fourmasted schooner William Bowden, 095 tons, Captain Johnson, which left Columbia River •s August 25 lor Bluff. The four-masted

American schooner Winslow lias been chartered to load a cargo of timber at Columbia River for Dunedin, with the option of other ports. The Winslow is a vessel of 497 tons, and is commanded by Captain Frederick. Other vessels to load timber at Gray's Harbour and Columbia River for this port are the four-masted schooner Commerce, (521 tons, Captain Zenthener, and the John A. Camp-' bell, 462 tons, Captain Borgeson. The four-masted schooner Koko Head is loading timber at Puget Sound for Auckland, and the four-masted schooner A. M. Campbell, 485 tons, Captain Hansen, is fixed to load at Puget Sound for Wellington, whilst another four-masted schooner, the A. B. Johnson, 468 tons. Captain Anderson, left Puget Sound on August 28 with a cargo of timber for Napier.
