PANIC IN BERLIN.
FRENZIED M*AN-HTJNTING. WHOLESALE LYNCHING OCCURS. (Received. August 22, 8.5 a.m.) THE HAGUE, August 21. A Dutch official who was recently in Berlin states that wages have fallen by ;>0 p er cent. The slaughter of cattle has been restricted • Spy hunting has become a popular frenzy. An official saw several socalled Russians lynched, though they were apparently Germans, but too frightened to explain. The mob accused one man of being a spy, when the police arrived, and he was shot without the least attempt to investigate the facts. Similar scenes are of hourly occurrence.
