SUMNER NOTES.
BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Sumner Beautifying Association was held at Mr Fountain Barber's residence on Monday evening, Dr Line presiding over a full attendance. Arrangements were made to do planting in various parts of the borough timing the next two weeks. It was decided to hold the next meeting on the first Thursday in September. SUNSHINE RECOED. The following is the Sumner sunshine record for the first sixteen days of August:—Maximum sunshine, 9$ hours, on the Bth and 10th; minimum sunshine, 1-i hours, on the 13th; more than seven hours sunshine on the sth, 7th, Bth, 9th, 10th, and 15th. Total sunshine recorded for above period, 99 hours 45 minutes. Total for same period last year, 57 hours 40 minutes. GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY. The usual meeting of the Girls' Friendly Society, Sumner branehj was held on Tuesday evening, in the parish room, the evening being spent -• in /sewing . for St. Saviour's Orphanage. .
