METHODIST MINISTERS.
The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ministers' Association of North Canterbury was held in the- Durham Street Church, the Bev. W. A. Sinclair presiding over an attendance of 21. , Reports were received and routine business transacted. The Synod was fixed for November 17 to 19, to be in Durham Street Church. Arrange- ~~ meuts Avere made for a convention for the deepeniug of spiritual life to be held at Sumner on September 7. Important themes were chosen and speakers appointed. : On the motion of the Eev. H. E. _ Bellhouse the following resolution was carried:—"That this meeting of the. Christchimdi and North Canterbury Methodist ministers profoundly deplores the terrible war apparently now impending in Europe. It sincerely trusts that all needless conflict may be averted and that counsels of peace may speedily prevail, and earnestly urges * all Methodist people to unite their pi-avers towards this result."' The Rev. H. Eanston, M.A., read a scholarly paper on "The Minister in His Study," which was highly appreciated bv the meeting.
