RECORDS BROKEN ON A MATCHLESS.

In Wellington M.C.C. hill climb last week a 3*} h.p. Matchless wiped the fioor with every other machine opposed to it. The course was one on which steer horse-power would tell, being perfectly straight and excessively steep. The report says:—"ln all heals arjd the final the Matchless started like a shot from a gun, and completely outclassed everything, up to and including all the 7 h.p. machines. It made fastest time of the day and record for the hill." This is the fourth successive win in the North Island in four competitions, a side car trial, two hill climbs, and a race on the fiat. Be it noted that no other 3i h.p. motor cycle got anywhere near the Matchless in the Wellington hill climb, the next fastest machines being of foreign make, with engines more than twice as large as (i. « Matchless.
