CITY FINANCES.

THE YEAR'S ACCOUNTS. At a special meeting, of the City Council, held subsequent to the ordinary meeting last evening, the Mayor presented the balance-sheet and statement of accounts for the year ending March 31, 1914. The Mayor congratulated the council's staff on the excellent way in which the council's accounts had been kept. He moved that the Town Clerk and his staff be thanked for the work they had done, and congratulated on the fact that there was no tag on the accounts'. Cr Cooper said that it was not like the Domains Board, each member of which had had to put his hand in his pocket for a guinea. The Mayor : r * Every member of the Auckland City Council had to disgorge £l6. Cr Otley: They got a good spree for it, anyhow. (Laughter). The motion was carried. The Mayor moved the adoption of the accounts. Cr Taylor said the accounts were kept as was required by the Municipal Corporations Act. He would like to see the accounts kept on the same lines as I were followed in a commercial concern.
