ST. ALBANS SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. :At the' monthly 1 meeting of the St. Albans School Committee the chairman (IMi- A. H. Hobbs) read a petition, signed by ten householders, requesting thai the H«-hool should be closed on account of sickness so prevalent in many families. He explained that lie had been in close touch with the boaid and the Health Department., which had advised that no good purpose would be achieved by closing. The chairman'h action was unanimously endorsed. The report of the headmaster showed that the number on the roll was .761, and that, the average attendance for the month: was 661, and for. the June quarter 669, as against 611 last year. Attention was called to the defective lighting of the temporary building erected" bv the board and it was decided to apply tor two skylights. ' Messrs M'Farlane and Hassall were appointed a visiting committee for the ejtis\iing. month. ; The Children's Open Air Homes proposals were heartily endorsed and details were'left to the chairman and the h!ead master.
