SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
ELMWOOD. ;|j At the meeting of the Elm wood r School Committee there were present: *||M Messrs M'Kenzie (chairman), Fresf, .h Fleming, Gibson, Fraser, Dalmer, -||fl Howard, and Winterbourne. The head- .;JfM master's" report stated that the number on the roll was 627, and that the aver- -'a age attendance was 572. The sehool 'JM had been inspected by the Education Board members on July 1 and 2. The Minister for Internal Affairs wrote in reference to the celebration of Arboatfl* Day, but in view of the proposal to enlarge the school grounds it was de-. eided to take no action in regard to tree planting this year. The Edtication Board advised that the incidental r ■ allowance of £33 3/6 and £l4 14/-, i& special grant of 1/- per annum per child . in average attendance, to cover certain' . items of repairs, had been paid into ' - * the committee V accountr It was de* cided to thank the board for Reverting - - to the special capitation grant. The >iß secretary for the Open-Air Fund wrote -iH requesting the co-operation of the children, but as the children had previously forwarded £5 it was decided not ,|||l to take further action. It was decided " :aB to continue the efforts to add more ' ground to the school area, it being held .
