FIRE BOARD.

ESTIMATES FOR NEXT FINANCIAL YEAE.

A meeting of tho Christehurch Fire Board was held last evening, there being present:—Messrs A. L. Parsons (chairman), A. Williams, H. R. Busbridge, W. B. M'Kenzie, J. F. Grierson, and R. if. Treleaven (secretary).

The chairman stated that this was the statutory annual meeting of the board, but no report would be presented, as tho board's financial year did not close iui€il June «'»0. Before retiring from the chair he wished to thank the members of the board, the superintendent, and the secretary, for the assistance they had given to him during the year. .

The chairman and Messrs Rusbridge and Williams had attended a meeting of the By-laws Committee of the City Council regarding the theatre by-laws,'ami a letter had since been received from the -Town Clerk, stating that the representations made woxild receive careful consideration. A request from the Canterbury Fire Underwriters' Association that the superintendent should make a further inspection at Temuka was agreed to. The manager of the Christchurch Opera House had requested that he be allowed to attend the next meeting of the board to make an explanation regarding the seating in the Opera House, which had been objected to by the superintendent, but it hud been decided that he be informed that this was a matter which did not affect the board. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of £;slti 19/-. The board's estimates for the year ending June ;>O," 1915, allow for an expenditure of £BOOO.
