On going into committee, the Treasurer made a statement indicating that the financial year would* end vfitli "a surplus of £824,305. The Opposition resumed the stonewall in view of forcing/Mr Cook to make a further statement regarding the advice he tendered to Sir R. Munro-Ferguson. The debate was adjourned, probably over next week.
AGREEMENT FAILS* ELECTIONS ON SEPTEMBER 5. (Received June 12, 9.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 12. A conference of the Federal parties failed to reach an agreement regarding the conduct of business, but it is understood that an arrangement, was made whereby a dissolution will be proclaimed on July 20. ' • The elections will be held, if possible, on September 5. Strenuous efforts are being made to complete the" new rolls by that date. IN THE SENATE. The Senate read a third time the Referenda Pill.
