"COUNTED OUT."
A DISORDERLY MEETING.
ANTI-MILITARIST GETS BOUGH TIME. Press Association. AtrCKGANI), June .12. A crowd took charge of a meeting in the Dcvo/iport llai! ly.st night, at which Reg. Williams, an Anti-Militarist, attempted to deliver a lecture illustrated 'by pictures showing trie horrors of war. Fifty cadets, carrying their rifles, marched in, and occupied the three 17 ont seats.
Williams waa not given a hearing. The crowd sang patriotic songs ami popular choruses, aud the lecturer, persisting in his efforts to make himself heard, was repeatedly '"counted out" with shouts which shook the building, the cadets keeping time with their rifle butts oh the iioor. One of tlie audience remarked that the lecturer ought to be shot, and Williams replied that he was a rifleman, and invited any of the interruptors to adjourn to a neighbouring paddock. There was a chorus of shouts of acceptance, but the lecturer contented himself with . another effort .to , speak. He cut his speech short, but continued to show his pictures amid a constant din of singing, whistling, and stamping. The meeting ended in disorder, the crowd giving cheers for the Union Jack.
