MAORI MEMORIAL.
Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 25. A movement is afoot among the coastal Maoris to erect a memorial cairn at Tataraimaka in honour of fortyeight natives, chiefly of the Wanganui tribe, who fell in the engagement at Johnny's Flat on June 4, 1863. Charles Hongyfield, the present owner of the land, has generously promised sufficient for the purpose.
