EMPIRE DAY.
Sunday was Empire Day, but in various parts of the Dominion celebrationis have taken place to-day. This evening the Christchurch Savages will hold a patriotic korero, at which the Territorial officers will be their guests. The school children's celebration will be held on June 3, the King's Birthday. Frets Association. DUNEDIN, May 25. Empire Day was celebrated on Saturday evening by two bonfires overlooking the town. Under the auspices of the Overseas Club to-day there were a few school functions. Sixty High Street School boys, members of the Navy League, assembled at the grave of Midshipman Boys, V.C., who won his distinction in Japan fifty years ago. These boys have for some years kept the grave in order. Addresses appropriate to the occasion were given.
