ROOSEVELT LAUGHS.
RECENT CRITICISMS. HIS BRAZILIAN DISCOVERIES. By Cable. — Press A.s*oeiation. — Copyright. NEW YORK, May 19. Mr Roosevelt denies the statement that he intends to stand for the Presidency on a progressive ticket. He laughed when informed of Mr Savage Landor's criticisms concerning his South American discoveries, and declared that he was absolutely certain in his own mind that he had discovered a new river. [On May 8 a cable message ,from London stated:—"Mr Roosevelt, who is to visit England, has announced his intention of controverting Mr A. H.' Savage Landor's discoveries.in Brazil.' Mr Landor, interviewed in Paris, retorted: "Before Mr RooseVeit does so, I would advise him to penetrate Brazil afoot, instead of in a steam launch. He seems to have copied some of the principal incidents of my voyage, and he has even had the same sickness and injuries. These things often happen to big explorers who carefully read other travellers' books."]
