VOTES FOR FUN.
A noteworthy experiment is about to b« made in Paris by "Le Journal," a great daily paper. At-the next Parliamentary election this newspaper will ask women- to vote—for fun. It is said that Frenchwomen do not want the vote. "Le Journal" thinks that the only way to find out if this statement is true is to ask the Frenchwomen themselves, "Do you really want to vote?" 1i If so," says the newspaper to women, "we are ready to make .an'-experiment which will be just like the dress rehearsal of a truly universal-suffrage. At the next Parliamentary elections you will find ballot boxes awaiting you, in which you will drop the name of your candidate. The voting j>npers will be collected and inspected by "Lc Journal." This experiment will show how many Frenchwomen are interested in politics, andNvhat would be changed if they had the vote." In spite of -the inadequacy of this informal referendum, French feminists welcome this opportunity :pf bringing their- political claims before the public, and are eagerly : preparing for the next election day.
