It is currently reported from Texas that the rebels and the Huertan forces in Northern Mexico are likely to join forces against the Americans. Overtures to that effect have already been opened. The Mexicans are reported to be planting mines in the Vera Cruz harbour. VERA CRUZ, April 21. Sir Lionel Garden has arrived here, and has counselled moderation. He declares that the likelihood of immediate action has been overestimated. WASHINGTON, April 21. Mr W. J. Bryan, Secretary of State, has conferred with the foreign ambassadors, explaining the United States' action in full detail. He is understood to have informed them that it was advisable to order their countrymen to leave Mexico.
It has been officially announced that the Americans have captured Vera Cruz.
Four were killed an<? twenty wounded.
