KAIAPOI CARNIVAL.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Kaiapoi Cycling Club's carnival was held this afternoon. Although the attendance was not so large as it has been in. some former years, there was still a good gathering, and all present were satisfied with the afternoon's sport. The programme included cycling, athletic, wood chopping, and sawing events. Results were as follow: ONE MILE NOVICE CYCLE RACE.— First heat: D. Thurecht 80yds 1, E. Waller 90yds 2, P. Kamler 95yds 3. Second heat: M. S. Nottingham 80yds 1, M. F. de la Cour 40yds 2, E. Dass scr 3. Final: M. P. de la Cour 1, E. Dass 2, D. Thurecht 3. Time, 2min 23sec. 100 YARDS FLAT HANDICAP.—First heat: A. R. Airsdale 10yds 1, W. Merrin Bjyds -2, G. Evans 7yds 3. Time, lOsec. Second heat: T. Fisher Byds 1, C. E. Hardingham 6yds 2, A. E. Clarke 7yds 3. Time, 10 2-ssec. Third heat: C. Neale Byds 1, C. W. Turner 7yds 2, W. M. Faulls lOyda 3. Time, 10 2-ssec. Final: G. Evans 1, A. R. Raisdale 2, W. Mei'rin "3. Time, 10 l-ssec. UNDERHAND CHOP CHAMPIONSHIP. —H. Stevenson scr 1, M. Doody 9sec 2, E. Morris scr 3. Just before the match, while the competitors were indulging in practice, C. Leitch struck his foot, and had to be removed from the ground.
