' ' , ' The Otago' representatives,. Brown and Hiss Campbell-, owed their victory over. The Canterbury pair scored most 7 off their aces at the net, whereas the visitors mainly on base-line play. - "In the- game Greenwood and Miss !M'Dougall v. Cramond and Miss Cramond, the Canterbury pair had matters pretty well their own way all through.'' Greenwood's brilliant net play had the Otago players on ~the~defensive most of the'time, and his Efforts were well seconded by his partner. The Canterbury pair, Seay and Miss / -Cotton, were altogether too good for Black -and Miss Black, who were lacking in experience, and. made far too' many mistakes. * -Seay played a brilliant game, his volleying Ibeing particularly- sound. . - - best tennis <of the afternoon was provided by the single betwe.en Ollivier anc -Jennings, All through the first set Jennings - v more than held his own, being more accu J . trate in his placing than Ollivier. Then thi -latter struck his, very best form and al the last two sets hardly gave, his ■■opponent a look in. In the. double between Ollivier Goss versus Jennings and Brown, the Canterbury pair gave a very disappointing exhibition Their play was full of mistakes, and thej a .complete lack of combination. Thi - Otago players, on the . other hand, wer< particularly accurate, though not hittinj nearly so hard as their opponents. LINWOOD B v. SOUTH CHRISTCHURCH 9 (Linwood names first.) Alpress 6 v.
