LATE COMMERCIAL.
FROZEN MEAT QUOTATIONS. Dalgety and C.o. have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated March 12, 1914:—"The demand for New Zealand lamb runs principally on heavy weights, and for New Zealand mutton on light weights, prices of both being firm; otherwise the frozen mutton market is dull, and any change in prices of frozen lamb is in favour of buyers. Poor demand for New Zealand beef. Arrivals other than Australasian are heavy. Quotations: — New Zealand prime crossbred lamb: Canterbury heavy 6|d, light 6£d; North Island, heavy 6d to 6£d, light 6id to 63d. New Zealand prime crossbred mutton: North Island, heavy 4id, light 4fd. New Zealand prime ox beef, fores 4d, hinds 4id.
HORSE SALE. Some 53 horses were entered at the usual weekly horse sale at Tattersall's yards to-day. The demand for all classes was excellent and almost a total clearance was effected under the hammer. For a Rolleston client a five-year-old gelding was sold at £35, and a four-year-old £27. The racing mare Pleasure Bent brought £3O. A child's pony sold on account of Mrs Finch (St. Albans) brought £ll, and one on behalf of L. Hegarty (Riccarton) £lO. A harness gelding submitted on behalf of G. Edwards (Woodend) brought £l4; an unbroken filly submitted on behalf of Mr 0. Wright (Addington) brought £l6. On account of a client seven unbroken hacks brought from £3 to £5 5/-. Aged draught geldings sold at £1.5 10/-, £.14, and £l2. Hacks and harness horses sold at from £5 to £9 10/- for good sorts, and down toT&l for crocka.
LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received March 14, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, March 13. At the wool sales there was a good selection and an animated demand for all sorts at the recent rate.
