METHODIST CONFERENCE.
A large number of Methodist clergyarrived in Christehurch. this morning, on their way to the second annual conference of the Methodist Church since the ; separation of the New Zealand t * Centre from Australia. The two branches of the Methodist Church in New Zealand united about twelve . , months ago. The conference, which will .assemble in Trinity Church, Dunedin, next Thursday, will be attended by over 200 delegates. Amongst the business to be discussed by the conference will be the relation of young people to the . Church, and it is probable that extensive measures to deal with this matter will be discussed. Valuable properties in Auckland and Christchurch have been secured for the purpose of found- '.'.' ing orphanages, the Auckland pro- ' ' perty, which is already in use, having ; been donated. During the past year the Church.. has contributed nearly £4OOO to the foreign missions of the • Australasian Methodist Church, while it is also carrying on extensive missions to the Maoris and in the backblocks.
