When a dam at the Great Horse Creek reservoir burst, a hundred-feet wall of water swept down, wrecking the bridge near Hudson, shortly before the Chicago-Bur lington-Quincy passenger train approached. Mrs Gammon, a telephone operator, although endangered by the;flood, stuck to her post and nearest station.
A train was flagged in time to save it from destruction. One hundred and fifty .passengers were aboard the train.
