THE MACKENZIE is a bay horse, six years old, stands nearly 17 hands high, with rare feet and legs, grand action, and was bred by the owner. Sire, Lion King, by British Lion (imp.), out of Scotch Annie (imp.). Daro, Glasgow Maggie, by Nimmo's Prince (imp.), g-sire Prince Charlie (imp.); Glasgow Maggie's dam, Taieri Lass (imp.). Lion King's sire, British Lion, g-sire Argyle (2567, vol. vi), g-g-sire Largo Jock (444, vol. i), out of Jean by Sam, winner of the Kintyre premium for several seasons. British Lion's dam, Darling, by the worldfamed Prince of Wales (675, vol. i), g-dam Darling, by Samson (741, vol. 1.). Lion King's dam, Scotch Annie (imp.), gained first prize at the Dunedin show in 1883, with medal for best mare in the yaid; at Taieri show in 1884, firs* prize for mare an<3 two of her progeny; at Dunedin in 1885, first prize and medal for best mare in the yard. THE MACKENZIE is a horse of the true . Ciydesdale stamp. His dam, Glasgow Maggie, ' has been a very large pmetaker. She was shown regularly every year, and never came out of the ring without a prize. She was first at the Taieri show in 1894 and 1895, for best mare • and two oi her progeny, at the age of 18 and ' 19 years respectively. Glasgow Maggie's sire, Nimmo's Prince, by Prince Charlie (imp".), out of Princess Maud . fanp-). was a very successful stock-getter, a filly by him being scld as a yearling for 300gs. Prince Charlie and Princess Maud were champions of Victoria for years. British Lion, Lion King, and Scotch Annie arc so well and favour- ■ sbly known that it is unnecessary to comment further upon them. Lion King took first prize in 1893, 1894, and 1895 for entire and three of his progeny at the •Dunedm show. THE MACKENZIE was first prize-taker at ' the Taieri show in J. 594, in a big ring of yearlings, and first at Dunedin show the same year, beating the first prize colts of Oamaru and Invercargill shows. He was also first at the Taieri show in 1895, and first at both. Dunedin and Taieri shows in 1596. THE MACKENZIE comes from the purest Strains of Clydesdale blood this side of the line, and is getting stock of the very highest quality. ■ He travelled the Taieri as a three-year-old, and his fillies were first and third at Taieri show, and first, second, and third at Dunedm show in J899, and it was allowed that they were as fine a lot of fillies as had ever been seen o/i a Dunedin show ground. The first prize filly was sold for lOOgs on the show ground. She went to Southland, and was first as a two-year-old < filly, and champion for best mare or filly at i Riverton show in 1899. THE MACKENZIE only travelled a short 1 distance, and only served 29 mares in 1896, so i surely that speaks volumes for his stock-get- i ting. Good paddocking for mares at Is 6d per week. < Mares sent by rail, and consigned to R. Char- < ters, Mosgiel, will be piomptly attended to. All i care taken, but no responsibility. Owners of mares at time of first service held J responsible. I Early application is necessary, as only a limited number of mares will be taken. ' Terms: £4 4s; £1 2s at end of season, and 1 £2 2s when mare proves in foal. Groom's fee, 5 s, j B. CHARTERS,
