The North Sydney Club has won the premiership contest of the New South Wales Association for 1898-9.
The Australians' first test match in England will be played this week, commencing on June 1, at Nottingham.
In county cricket Middlesex dismissed Somerset for 35 runs, of which S. M. J. Woods made 20. Hearne took five wickets for 14 runs, Albert Trott four for 18. Middlesex, in their first innings, made 86. Somerset, in their second innings, could only reply with 44. Albert Trott took seven wickets for 13. and Hearne three for 30. Middlesex won by an innings and seven runs.
