DRUMMOND.

November 3. — The third annual race and sports meeting at Drummond was held in a field kindly placed at the disposal of the Sports and Racing Committee by Mr and Mrs F. Gladfield, but unfortunately the weather was exceedingly unpropitiou*. Cold cutting squalls of rain and hail prevailed during the best part of the day, and. as a consequence of that and of the rain which had fallen previously the racecourse was more like a ploughed field than anything else. Notwithstanding these adverse ctrcum->tanee», however, the sporting fraternity turned out to the number of 300 or moiv, including a very small sprinkling of th"? fair sex. The various officials on the Racing Committee were :— Judge, Mr A. Nekon ; starter, Mr C Affleck; clerk of scales, Mr R. Baird ; clerk tff course, Rlr J. ISwan ; handicjppers, Messrs W. Affleck and J Smith (OUutau); and secretary, Mr D P. Ewau. Mr T. W. Perry, of the Travellers' Rest Hotel, had the licensed booth, and Mi- S. Learmont, of ltiverton, the confectioner's stall.
