THE NEW HEBRIDES.
Sydn ey, January 9. The Consul-general for France has returned after a visit to Europe. He says that there is not the slightest doubt that the French Government intend to discontinue j the deportation of criminals to New Oale1 donia. With regard to the Now Hebrides, he has every reason to believe that at the . present time nothing is definitely settled with reipect to thesa islands, bub there was no doubt that a cessation of the deportation of criminals is intended as a friendly act which might aid in any effort made no alter the administration of the New Hebrides in the direction desired by France.
