Ntonda, which was recently destroyed by Chikusi's hordes, is on*> of the five mission stations of ih". Z*mhesi Industrial !Vli««'ion in Southern Avigoniland, the other four being River Station. Liauugwe, Blair Oohil, and Dutnbole. Ntonda ie situated on the went of River Sbire, and abouh 80 miles north of Blanfcyre. Tho raissionarie* m charge of the station are Mr Alexander Hamilton, the superintendent lor Atrouiland, and Miss Thomas, And as a. recent cable message stated that the misßionaries at Ntonda had been killed, it is frai'ad that; Mr Hamilton aud Miss Thomas h.ive fallen victims. The Zambesi Industrial Mission has been carried ou during the la^t three years from both Loudon and Melbourne, 1 the acting-secretary for Melbourne being the ■ Rev. S. Howard. This gentleman informed ' the Argua fchat •• inasmuch as some 10 stations belonging t"> this mission, as also the two well- ■ known Prtsbyter'&n mißsious > f Blantjre aud Lake Nyassa, all lin along tbs rou^e of this I invasion, within a circuit of 120 miles, and j skirting both sides of th« Shire River, unless I the raid ia quickly repoiled by a British force the worst results may be fnartid for the whole province. If, as stated, the armed forces for the defence cf Nyas«*land consist of only 200 , Sikhs aod 300 black police, they will have all their woik cat out to repel the iuvader ; and prompt mea-sures are necessary to »aye these promising mismion centres, together with the coffee plantations of B lan tyre, from devastation"
