Aneust 16 th. TheTapanni Young Men's Christian^ Association held their usnal fortniphtly meeting on Thursday, the 12th instant. There was a good ' attendance. Mr Malcolm Rosa read an original essay on " Thinking," receiving well-deserved praise for the manner iv which he handled his subject. Mr Christie gave an interesting reading. The Association intend holding a spirae and entertainment at an early dato in aid of their building fund. The quarterly meeting of the Tapanui Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held on Friday, the 13ch instant. After the varxpuß reports (which were, financially and otherwise, of a highly satisfao. Tory character) had been read and adopted, the installation of officers for tbe ensuing term was proceeded with.
