Sydney, October 3ed. Hennessy's brandy, in qr .-casks, 9s 6d to 9s 9d per gallon ; Devoe's kerosene, Is lOd per gallon ; Patna rice, £21 10s per ton ; New Zealand wheat, 4s 9d per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, 2s 6d; tobacco (Raven twist), la 6d to Is 8d per lb ; candleß, DRJS, 7|d.

Mr Hbnrt Driver (on behalf of the N.Z.L. and M.A. Company, Limited) reports for the week ending Bth October as follows :—

Fat Cattle. — The moderate supply of 133 head came forward, chiefly good to prime quality. There was fair competition, and an advance on last week's quotations took placo. Best bullocks brought from £11 10s to £15 2s 6d per head— equal to 80s to 32s 6d per 1001b for prime, and 27s 6d for medium quality. Fat Sheep.— 23lß were penned, coss-brods and merinos. All were cleared off by auction, although last week's quotations were barely maintained. Croßßbreds brought from lls to 14s each ; merinos, 10* 6d. We sold a draft of cross-breds on account cf Mr J. G. Gray at above prices, equal to 2|d per Ib. Fat Lambs.— 22o penned, and were sold at from , ,6s 8d to 141 each. Store Cattle and Sheep.— We have inquiries fi.r both classes of stock.

Sheepskins. — We catalogued 1800 for our Monday's sale. Prices wero rather easier, especially for crossbreds, for which competition was rather weak. Crossbreds fetched from 2s 5d to 3s 3d; merinos, 2a 5d to 3a 6d ; pelts and station skins, 9d to 2s each. Hides.— We disposed ot about 100 at 2jd per lb for salted, and 153 to 16s each for butcher*' green. Tallow.— There is no demand for rendered. Rough fat we quote at 14s per cwt. Grain.— Wheat : There is fair pomand for prime milling at 4a 9d to 6s ; medium, 4« 6a v o is Bd, Oats ;

No change in quota ions, and very little business doing; good samples of feed are worth 2a to 2a Id; milling, 2s 2d to 2s 3d. Barley : No sales since our last roport ; quotations are unchanged.

Messrs Wright, Stbphbnbon, amd Co. roport for the week ending Bth Octiber as follows :—

Fat Cattle. — A m<'dorat9 number came forward today, only 133 head being yarded, lhe major portion of which -were of from good to prime quality. We sold 65 head on account of James Shand, Esq., Mr Ja-nes Hamtwge, Messrs Smith and Co., and others. Bullocks brought from £9 10s to £14 10s ; cowt from £7 10d to £10-pric s equivalent to 80a per 1001b. Fat Cft.ves.— Only a few yarded, and these were sold by U3 at from £1 163 to £2 10s each. Pat Sheep were in fair supply to-day, 2318 being penned. Competition was animated, and prices ruled about equal to last week's quo'ations. We s jid 1567 sa follows :-On account of Mr James Hunter, 475 crossbred ewes (f -ir quality) at lls 6d; on account of Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co (Gladbrook), 264 cross-breds (tmall) at 12s, and 332 merino wethers at 10s 6d ; on account of Messrs Draper and Johnston, 105 crossbreds at from 13s to 13a 9d; on account of John Douglas, Esq. (Mount Royal), 300 cross-bred wethers at 14s 6d ; on account of othtr vendors, 100 cross-breds at from 8s 6i to 14* 3d. We quote mutto-i at 2JJ to 3d per lb. Fat Lambs are now offering freely, consequently prices are on lhe decline. 220 were pnnned to-day, of which number wa sold 156, at from 7s 3d_ to lls 3C. Our sales wore on account of Messrs William Pud'iy, H. K. Taiaroa, Jamoa Gibson, John Davidson, and others.

Fat Piga. — Only 70 came to hand to-day, and for th"sethe bidding w-is very keen. We sold 60 mediumsized porkers at equal to "5d per lb. Store Cattle.- We have inquiries for grown cattle for paddock fattening During tlifi week we have sold 100 he&tl two and threc-yoar-old bullocks, at from £4 10s to £5 12s 6d.

Store "beep.— Wo have no transactions to report.

Country Sales. — Our monthly sa'e took pUce on the 2nd nut., at Palmerston. About 70 head's tore oatUe were yardtd, and sold at aati"f>\clory prices. A few light horses also changed hands at from £10 to £18Horses. — There exists a fair demand for madium draughts and strong upstanding light harness horsea. The number forward at our Saiurd^y'a s<oe was nob large ; most of tht-m, however, charged hands at g»od prices We quote first-o'ass draughts at from £45 to £50 ; medium, £25 to £35 ; x od hscks and lightharnesi horses, £17 to £25 ; medium, £12 to £15 ; light and inferior, £3 to £8. Sheepskins.— This week we catalogued over 1700 skins j competition, however, wag not very spirited, and prices obtained, more especially for cross-breds, show a slight decline on recent quotations. Butchers' green skins, half-bred, sold at irom 3s to 3s 4d, and merinos up to 3s 6d ; station skins up to 43 4d. Hides.— Values remain without change. We have not sold any this week. Tallow. — We did not offer any at our sale on Monday. Quotations are unaltered.

Gr<u~.~ Wheat: Prime samples are in moderate inquiry. We quote prime at from 4s 9d to 6s; ordinary, 4s 3d to 4s 7d ; fowls' feed, 3s 8d to 4j. Oats are very alow of sale. Milling samples are worth 2s 2d ; good feed, 2s to 2s Id. Barley : Choice samples are in request, and for these 5s to 5s 3d would be obtained.

Maclean Brothers report for the week ending Bth October as follows : —

Fat Cattle There was but a small supply of 133 head yarded for this day's market, and the quality was chiefly good to prime. Competition was consequently more animated, and prices for prime advanced by 2s 6d per 1001b. Beßt bullocks brought from £12 up to £15 2b 6d ; cows, from £8 to £10 2) 6d. We sold at tho yards, on account of the New Zealand and Australian Land Company, a prime draft of 40 bullocks from their Edendale Estate at from £12 2s Cd to £15 2s 6d, or at an average of £18 per head ; and on account of various vendors we sold 20 head at quotations. We quote prime quality at fully 30s, and for medium 25s to 27s 6d per 1001b. Fat Sheep.— A fair supply of 2318 came forward, consisting of cross-breds and merinos. The demand was good throughout, all being cleared, but at a. slight reduction on last week's rates. Cross-breds brought from 12s to 14s ; merinos, 10s 6d. We sold about 400 on account of Messrs Anderson, Lamont, and Ryan at above quotations. We quote prime mutton at 2|d per lb.

Fat Lambs —220 were penned, and were cleared at prices ranging from 6s 3d to 14s each- We sold on account of Mrs Kempshell a draft of 40, and on account of various vendors about 20, at above rates.

Store Catt'o.— No transactions to report.

Store Sheep. — A demand is now sprini?in(r up, but we have no transactions to report, and can therefore give no quotations. Country Sales.— On Tunsday last we hold a sale of dairy stock at Mr W. Marun'd, Saddle Hill, and cleared all the lots advertised at fairly satisfactory prices. On Tuesday, the 14th instant, we shall hold a clearing sale at Mr D. Murray's, Clinton, of cattle, sheep, horses, and farming implements, and as Mr Murray is about to remove from the district, all will be submitted without reserve.

Wool. — We have no sales here to report, and the London sales having closod we have no advices from tbe Homo market.

Sheepskins. — At our weokly sale on Monday last we disposed of a fair catalogue. There was a good attendance, bnt late quotations were barely maintained. Oro'B-breds fetched from 2a 6d to 3s 3d ; merinos up to 3s 3d.

Hides. — We have no sales this week to report, except a lot of butchers' hides at 16s ; calfskins, Is 9d.

Tallow.— There is no demand. Rough fat ia worth 14s 6d per cwt. Grain. -Wheat is still in fair demand, and owing to stocks in hand being small, prices are firm at last week's quotations, viz - prime, 4s 9d to 4s lOd ; ordinary, 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; inferior, 4s ; fowls' feed, Ss 6d to 3s 9d. Oats show no improvement in demand, and prices are without change. We quote first-class feed at 2s to 2s Id ; milling, 2s 2d to 2s 3d. Barley : There has b^en little inquiry for this cereal during the week, and we have no alterations in quotations, to report. Prime malting may be quoted at 5s 3d.

Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report for week ending Bth October as follows : —

Fat Cattle.- 133 were yarded, the greater part being prime quality, with a few pens of medium. The short supply caused all sorts to be in good domand, and prices advanced about 2s Cd to 5s per 1001b. Best bullocks brought from £14 1< s to £15 2s 6d ; good do. £10 15s to £14 ; others, from £8 to £4.0 2s ; best cows, up to £11 5s ; others, from £7 2a 6d to £9 15s -or equal to 32s 6d per 1001b for prime, 27a 6d to 30s medium quality. Fat Calves Nono yarded. Fat Sheep. — 2818 penned, including 200 good merinos, the balance all good-quality cross-breds. In consequence of the largo Eupply, prices were a littla below last week's quotations. Best cross-breds brought up to 14s ; good do, lls 6d to 13s 3d ; others, 103 to 10a 9d ; merino wethers, 10s 6d ; a small lot of shorn sheep, 9s J)d We sold a draft on account of R. Oxley, Esq., at— shorn, 9s 9d ; in wool, 12s 9d. Fat Lambs.— 22o were penned. Prime quality were in good demand, and sold at from 10s to 163 ; others, 6s to 9s 6d, according to size and quality. Store Stock — No transactions to report. Sheepskins. — At our sale on Monday last wo offered a small catalogue, which sold at — butchers' cross-breds, 8a 2d ; merinos, 3s 3d to Si 6d ; skins in bales, 3Jii to 4f <i per lb. Hides. — Nothing to report.

Tallow. — Rendered, unsaleable ; rough fat, 14s to 16s.

Grain. — The wheat market is firm at labt week's quotations. OatB : There is less inquiry for oats, and prices are a shade easier. Barley : Good malting is in demand, and for really good samples top prices are freely given. We quote prime milling wheat at 4s Od to ss; medium do, 4s 6d to 4s Sd ; fowls' feed and inferior, 3s 61 to 4s. Oats, milling, 2s Id to 2s 3d ; feed, 2s to 23 Id. Barley, prime malting, 5s to 5b 6d ; milling?, 4s 3d to 4s 9d. Pc atoes, £4 10s to £5 10s per ton.
