The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Thursday, October 26th, present, the Commissioner (Mr J. Hay), Messrs J. McLean, A. Kinross, J. Mclntyre, and D. King. With regard to his notice of motion to lescind the resolution passed at a previous meeting " that the area applied for by Mr R. G Queale be sold by auction," Mr Kins? withdrew it and the Board resolved that action be delayed until the land had been inspected by all the members of the Board, and an upset rental value placed upon it. R\. G. Queale withdrew his application for lease for lime- burning purposes. The Under-Secretary for Lands and Survey notified that the Governor had affirmed the resolutiou of the Board withdrawing from sale pastoral runs No. 481 to 486, inclusive, Fiord Country, — Received. P. King, on behalf of settlers m Winton district, block Vlli, requested that sec. 488, two acres, be reserved. — Resolved that the section be temporarily reserved for public purposes. : With reference to the application of Mr W. H, Ward, owner of sec, 110, Taringatura, for the purchase of sec. 874, Taringatufa s.d., 20 acres 2 roods, adjoining, it was stated that the section had. been offered m August, 1901, at £1 per acre, and the Board resolved that it be reoffered at auction at the same price. Regarding the application of D Murchison, Merrivale, for one acre out of the dairy factory reserve, sec. 81, for a public hall site, under sec. 7 of the Lands for Settlement Act Amendment Act, 1904, it was decided that the Minister for Lands be recommended to approve the sale of one acre for a public hall site out of the section, A further application was made by the Rev. A, Macdonald for one acre out of the same section for a church site, and it was decided that the Minister be recommended to approve the sale of one acre for the purpose. Ranger Collins reported having examined sec. 24, block VII, WaiauMerrivale Settlement, withheld from selection on account of the bush upon it. He stated that the bush was poor, being principally white pine, and estimated its value at ordinary royalty at £45. The section was 21 miles from Otautau railway station. — It was resolved that the section be re-opened to selection, burdened with £25 valuation for sawmilling timber thereon. The Ranger also reported inspection of sec. 86, block VIII. New River Hundred, 88 acres, bush reserve; He stated that the timber left was red pine, of little value to farmers, and considered the section was not required for bush reserve, as there were two others near. Ihe timber on 20 acres was valued a £27 105, for which £15 was offered by Mr G. Jack. — It was decided to offer the sawmilling timber to Mr Jack for £27 10s ; six months given to cut. Miscellaneous licenses were granted as follows : — John Bates, sec. 10 block IV, Aparima Hundred, 97 acres, at £1 per annum ; Robert Murrell, 1000 acres m Manapouri township, at £2 per annum; Geo. Saunders, offered flax on open land on sec. 5, block XXXViI, Taringatura, at £4, and given six months to cut. The following applications for land were granted-: — William" Young, jnr, sees 80,, 86 and 89, block V, Mabel Hundred, 104 acres * roads 12 poles (0.r.p.); Geo. McChesney,' sec 888, block LX, Hokonui, 68 acres 2 roods 85 poles (cash); Jno. Campbell, sec HE, blk, 9, Lindhurst Hundred, 429ac. (1.i.p.), J. F. Ford, sec 6, blk V, Centre Hill, 292ac. lrd. 2p. (0.r.p.) to substitute his own name for his wife's ; R. Gleridinning, J; Ross, T. L. Barnhill and j. A. JohnstOHe, outlying pieces Taringatura, sac. dr. 17p- (cash). . The Receiver was authorised to pay over £47 6s 3d to the Southland County, £81 6s 3d to the Invercargill Road Board, and £8 19s 6d to the Stewart Island County Council. j Several plans of surveys ■> were received and passed, and a report by Messrs Mclntyreand McLean recommending that land m blks I, III ■ and. Applications to transfer were approved as follows : — Jas Robertson to Martin Tiernay, sec. 741, Hokonui (Centre Bush) : Chas, Goodall to A. McKenzie, sec. 804, Hokonui ; Jas. Campbell to A. Sneyd, sees. 140 and 189, blk XIII, Waiau. Minister recommended to approve : F. Skipworth to J. P. King, sees. 42 and 48, block VI, New River Hundred, Five applications to mortgage were sanctioned and one surrender accepted. .
