Walker (Bayswater), J. laylor (Wa-qola), A- ©latch .(O autau), J. Devery I and W. Lindsay (StrathmoreV Dugald Ferguson (Otautau), with the lat-. ter- as secretary^., and to whose; courtesy and energy the success - ,of the evening must -be. largely attributed; This committee assisted by a number of friends had gone to a great deal of trouble m decorati ng the hall with ever- greens, ferns, and grain, and the effect was very tasted ful and pleasing. Seventj couples accepted the committee's invitation and a most eujoyable evening was. spent* The music was m the capable hands of Miss Gardiner (p/ano), -V_ess.rs Egan Bros (violins) . and Burtenshaw (cornet) and their inspiriting strains made everything go withj a vim,* M r N e ** McFadzien acted as M-Q., and filled the position with his well known ability m that direction. During the interval m the first part of the evening Mr George Hervid gave a most creditable performance of the Highland sword dance and was accorded enthusiastic applause. Mrs Cupples acted as pianist for several extra items, greatly appreciated by the dancers. Dancing was kept up with unabated vigour till early Saturday morning with wholehearted enjoyment to Uie guests present.
