DRAINAGE BOARD REPORTS.
Tho .following is a summary of the various committee reports to bo considered by the Duiiediri Drain ago Board at its meeting on Wednesday evening-:— The Engineer reports as follows on tho various contracts in progress:—Wharf street, reticulation, 130 ft of 12-inch sewer; Bay View road, 378 ft of 6-inch drain, and 36ft of -18-inch drain. One hundred and twentyeight feet of the 9-inch storm-water drain in the Canon gate zig-zag had to bo taken up and' relaid owing to an under run nor beneath the pipes. The half-yearly cleaning of tho main sewer is now in progress. All of tho trenches on. the Gordon street contract, Mornmgton, havo been gono over j made good, and metalled whero it was r©l qun-ed. New mud-tanks have been constructed in Marion and Playfair streets, Caversham, "where tha corporation has widened and altered the footpaths. Numerous complaints havo boon , received of the bad smells arising from tho mad tanks at tho foot of Levon street, Roslyn. They wore all untrappod. They have now been reconstructed and the nuisance abated I am pleased to ho able to report that owing - to. tho diligeneo of tho men, not a single oomplamt or chokage was reported during tho recant heavy rains.
The Finance Committee reports that accounts amounting to £1063 5g lid, examined and passed by tho Works Committee, were passed for payment. Accounts amounting to £9518 7s Sd, as per finance hook, were examined and passodi for payment, and cheques signed.
