VOLUNTARY ENLISTMENT. Eighteen men presented themselves at the Kensington Drill Hall on Friday night. Ten were foundi to be unfit. The men passed as fit included tho following:— Stanley Gregory, packer, Dunedin (returned soldier). Harold Hedges, carter, Dunedin. William Roy Macdonald, insurance manager, Broad Bay. Alexander Gray Scoular, manager, Pukerangi. . Robert Alexander Joseph Simpson, waterside worker, Dunedin. DISOBEDIENCE OF ORDERS. Lost week another court-martial finding was announced. Thomas Joseph Collins was found guilty of disobedience of orders at Quarantine Island, and sentenced to 70 days' detention. GOING TO THE FRONT. The residents of East Taieri turned out en masse on Friday evening to bid farewell to Trooper John S. Blackie, son of Mr Walter Blackie. Trooper Blackie is a member of the Mounted Machine Gun Section. Mr Miller presided, and Mr James Gow (chairman of the Taieri County Council) presented Trooper Blacikrio with a set of military brushes, a fountain pen (suitably inscribed), and a sum' of money. He referred to the fine type of soldier their guest was, and said he was sure he would uphold the reputation of tho Taieri boys. Appropriate speeches were also made by the Rev. A. W. Kinmont, Mr W. H. L. Christie, and others. The ladies provided supper. MOMONA RED CROSS SOCIETY. The following is a list of goods sent to Dunedin for the year ended May 31:— Ninety-five pairs pyjamas, 360 pairs day sodts, 193 diet cloths, 141 shirts, 75 pairs bed socks, 48 fomentation cloths. 90 body belts, 45 balaclavas, 15 draw sheets, 124 pairs underpants, 19 pairs cuffs, 13 roller harases, 13 bed jackets, 35 scarves, 52 operation cloths, 109 pillow slips, 48 face cloths, 13 pairs slippers, 118 binders, 33 girdles, 12 slings, 15 under-flannels, 14 eye 8 turkish towels, 63 handkerchiefs, 39 wringers, 74 tea towels, 65 limb rests, 12 bottle covers, 4 pneumonia ooats, 6 operation coats. 6 aprons, 65 white shirts, 2 autograph quilts. 350 swabs. 483 gauze dressings. The committee thanks all workers and all thoso who helped by their subscriptions and donations. It asks for a continuance of their support, and states that more workers will be welcome. The expenditure for tho year was £232 13s. PATRIOTIC CONCERT AND DANCE. An enjoyable patriotic concert and dance were held in the Art Gallery Hall on Friday evening, the proceeds from which are to go to a fund in aid of a hosnital for tJie .men from the British Royal Flying Corps. The ooncort was arranged by Misses Vera White and Winnie Robertson. The Mayor (Mr J.. J. Clark) presided, and explained the objects of the concert, and "paid a tribute to the great work being done by tho Aviation Corps. \ Solos were contributed by Mjsses Elva, Baker, Jean Dovelin, Cissie King, Mrs S. A. .Footc, Mr M'Skiimning Mr Lane, and Mr Hudson. Miss Elsie M'Peak gave tho recitation " Barbara Frietehie." Mr M'Carthy a humorous reci-ta-tjoai, Miss Lily Foster a Dickons charac ter sketch,and Miss Vera White a patriotic monologuo, which resulted m nearly £2 being collected. Miss Winnie Robinson gave a Highland fling and tho reel o' Tulloch was danccd by Miss Winnie Robinson, Mlra Jean Riddle, and Masietfi M'Kenzie
