ANGLING.
BRUCE SOCIETY'S ANNUAL • MEETING. I The annual meeting of the Bruce Angling Society was held in the Coronation Hall on Friday night, Mr. James Nelson (president) being in the chair. The annual report disclosed that the fishing was fairly good last year. A competition was hold on Labour Day, the first prize (valued at £1 _ls) being won by Mr James Brown (Waronui). Sixtythree thousand fry were put into the rivers in the district last season, and 2200 yearlings of various kinds, by the manager of Clinton hatcheries,, assisted by Messrs C. Grey and James Nelson. The balance sheet, wtich, vJth the report, was adopted, showed a credit of £4 Is Id. Mr James Nelson was re-elected president, and the following committee was elected Messrs James Nelson, C. Grey,, J. W. Petrie. T. Brvce, D. Hassett, J. Powley, D. Taylor, 11. Wells, G. T. West, W. Moffat, J. Moroney. Mr Moffat was re-elected secretary and treasurer. It was decided to hold competitions on October 1 and also on Labour Day for men and boys, when good prizes will be given. I |
