RE DUNEDIN HOSPITAL FUNDS

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The present controversy with reference to the Dutiedin Hospital informs tho public that this institution is sadly in want of funds to carry on improvements, &c, and to aid in this matter 1 take this opportunity, through your columns, of suggesting that the presidents in connection with tho various football clubs subscribe for a trophy to be called tho Hospital Charity Cup, to bo played for yearly, aud that the proceeds of all tho matches for the same be handed to the hospital.

I may iuform you that there is ,i charity cup played for in Glasgow by half a dozen of the seuior clubs, and that every year the two hospitals in that city benefit to the extent of over £1000.

I am fully convinced that if some of our influential citizens take up this matter a very handsome sum can bo handed annually to the above deserving institution. —I am, &c,

Dunedin, 10th March,

A. M. Buchanan.
