When the court opened this morning, Mr Commissioner Reid said in the first case, when Wallath appeared, it was agreed between counsel that Mr Hutchison (solicitor), who was out of the colony at iiho time, was to be heard if ths commission was in existence when arrived. The commissioners had that morning received a telegram from Mr Jellicoe stating that he had seen Mr Hutchison at Wanganui, who told him he would give no evidence as to WaUath's charge, and the commissioners therefore considered the case closed.

M'Lachlan's charges, heard yesterday afternoon, were then gone on with.

Mr Samuel said he had no evidence io bring, as in their cases the M'Lachlaus had put in a. spoke for themselves.

M'Lachlan then addressed the commissioners and Mr Samuel replied.

After M'Lachlan's charge had concluded Mr Samuel said he presumed the commissioners would have before them the 6th section of " Tho Commissioners' Powers Act 1572," as bearing on costs in all the cases, as Sir Robert Stout had already raised it in one case.

The commissioners said they would bear it in mind.

Tho names of Joshua Jones, G. T. Syme, Black, Moore, Norman, aud Jackman were called, but none appeared, and tho court adjourued till to-morrow at 10, when, if no more charges are brought forward, the commissioners 'Will close the inquiry.
