THE MINISTERIAL TOUR.
(By Oub Special Repobteh.)
Pbmbbokb, December 8.
Mr M'Dougall introduced a deputation to the Premier last night regarding a recreation ground for Pembroke township.. They asked that some town sections that had been offered for sale and failed to gain a purchaser should be granted to the township for that purpose. The Premier said the request was a very reasonable one, and promised to give it very favourable consideration. The deputation also asked for a new post and telegraph office, pointing out the great inconvenience of telegrams coming through the local storekeeper. The Premier said similar objections had been urged by most of tbe country^ towns, and held out no hopes of the application being granted. The trip up the lake to Pigeon Island to-day was most enjoyable, notwithstanding the strong winds. Pigeon Island, with its lake 400 ft above the mam lake, was greatly admired; and also the grand snow ranges. The steamer went round to Lake Dhu to give the tourists a view ot Mount Aspiring, but the Matterhorn of New Zealand is still persistently burying himself in the clouds. Tne Minister of Works took the nelm.-and steered on tbe return journey. The party are now going to Hawea.
