Tfejc May serial of tha English wool sales hjw bwa looked forward to with no tittle hope by especially* the wool-growera of those Colonies* of which wool is the staple product. Whilst to the ontnitiatmi thisi news might have appeared to port) *Htt a contir.nu.tion of the depression ha the wool trade. to* those faqotunted witilt the wool Jbaainesa it bcd«i good- It was expected that prices would adrsßce am the vale* proceeded and
we now have the pleasure of announcing, in. a special London cablegram in another column, that cross-breds have already advanced by 8J per cent, beyond the rates realised at last sales. This of itself is a profit not to be despised, and should, even if these ahoold be no further advance, be accaptabio to woofcgroweat who w»re »orely tried by tha low pncei of tot saoson. Bat we suspect that the piesent ri3c is only the commencement of the reaction which invariably follows either briskness or inaction. Jlay we not hope that the rise in wool and grain which is now showing itaelf is substantial and the result of the more [mcifie state of matters, as wars and rumours of ware were lately the cause of their decline.
