HE IS SOME "MAIDEN"
Todd Lonzia Cramps Their Style
SMALL DIVVYS (From "N.Z. Truth's" South Island Trotting Rep.) last May, Todd Lonzia established a two-year-old: trot'erlVoe»cord ' and m Public went a mile m 2.22 2-5, he is still a "maiden" and entitled to the limit m even the slowest class maiden trot. This is surely an unique position! It was a very sporting action on the part of Mr. Hudson to step his fine colt out against time at Forbury, and if present intentions are carried out and Todd Lonzia is taken to the Greymouth meeting m October, he will be a great attraction. The owners of only fair maiden trotters will not be enamored with their prospects of beating him. In fact, if Todd Lonzia goes to Greymouth some of the others are sui'e to be left at home, but even so, what the Greymouth Club may lose on the swings it will make on the roundabouts and all the sports will be happy to see a colt of such class. Even though Todd Lonzia did go 2.22 2-5, Trainer A. Cox was confident that he could do 2.20, and with the idea of proving it, had made arrangements for a later attempt at Addington. The state of the track prevented the attempt. The colt has been m easy work all winter and at the moment is the circus' horse of Addington. ; He will certainly strip a very fit liorse when he is taken to the race.s. The three-year-old Sire's Produce Stakes at Forbury was to have been To.d.d Lonzia's special mission and it is unfortunate for him that this race is to be cut out. Still, he will get some good money without that, and is sure to see a few cramped dividends until he com^s back ! in the handicaps.
