OUTCLIFFE'S selection as skipper of Yorkshire m preference to an amateur man has caused quite a stir here. The views o^f an international who has played Test cricket m England is worth noting and Charlie Kelleway has given an opinion on the matter. He says: "I could see there would be breakers ahead for Sutcliffe, and already the first signs have appeared. Knowing the team and the majority of its personnel as I do, I felt that the appointment would hit the older men hard. "So far as Rhodes is concerned, age would be taken into consideration, but when Kilner was passed over it looked as though age again was the main factor and the post was given to Sutcliffe on account of the years of cricket that should be ahead of him. "Dolphin, too, would feel ag*grieved as he has been a unit of the Yorkshire eleven for a long time, and would certainly have just claims to the position. "However, the choice has been made,- and it is to be hoped it will prove a wise one. Should failure result from the venture, many years will elapse before any other country will have the courage to follow the example set."
