AMERICANS' PRIDE

SUPPORT FOR DEMOCRACY TRIBUTE TO NEW ZEALAND (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Monday "It is a source of pride to all Americans to know their Government is not standing idly by while the forces of aggression strive to disrupt the democratic way of life," said Mr. Robert English, Consul for the United States, at a luncheon held to-day by the Wellington branch of the English Speaking Union to mark the enactment of the Lease-or-Lend Bill. "Wo Americans shall be prouder still when our arsenal of democracy is in full production," Mr. English added. "Your loyal support of the Empire in its hour of need and your prompt, effective contribution to the cause on land, at sea and in the air increases the friendlv feeling Americans have for New Zealand. We like to see a good job well done and I can assure you to us across the sea your war effort is such as to spur us to greater and greater efforts on your behalf."
