Sir,- —When passing u fruit shop 0110 morning J noticed a .small rock melon in the window —about the size oi a tennis hall. 1 went in and inquired the price, and when told it was 8d I gasped and decided to go without. Next day i was talking to one of the American sailors, one of the senior ratings and a much-travelled man. Among other things we discussed prices, and I told hinf* about the rock melon and asked him what he reckoned would he a lair ligure for it.
