LIME FOR NATIVE LAND
CRUSHING PLANT PLANNED The Native Department is exploring the possibilities of opening _ a lime quarry and installing a crushing plant on native land in the Waiomio and Motat.au areas. In both these areas there is a plentiful supply; of limestone of a good quality for agricultural purposes, that could bo easily worked, the proposal being that a portable crushing plant be used for the purpose. At present the lime required for the native laud development units in the north has to be purchased, and if the lime could be secured from the native land itself then a great saving in development costs would result. This week an inspection of the various limestone areas was made by Mr. M. R. Finlay, of the Native Department, and Mr. A. A. Leo, of the Public Works Department, to ascertain the feasibility of the proposals. i
